Job Title: Writer-Editor TMGL is a small business with HQ’s in Northern Virginia. We are a defense contractor providing support for media relations, communications strategies, managing social media, websites, generating high end graphics and all other aspects of public relations. TMGL is seeking a Writer-Editor for a quarterly Army publication for the US Army acquisition organization at Ft. Belvoir, Virginia. This position requires a professional with strong experience in writing, scheduling, and client relations. Prior military experience is not required, but preferred. Required skills: • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. • Ability to identify issues and initiate articles for publication.
• Develop graphics and photos and monitor graphics artists implementation of same to support articles.
• Advising on article selection, placement, format, and layout.
• Strong proofreading, fact-checking and editing skills.
• Familiar with AP style and Merriam-Websters dictionary.
• Knowledgeable of Army regulations and policy for publishing and printing.
• Respond to inquiries and requests from readers and the public.
• Prepare and disseminate surveys. Write articles on the results for publication
• Organizational and planning skills. • The ability to effectively contribute to a high volume of complex projects. • Work requires some travel and carrying items such as paper, books, cameras, laptops and briefcases.
• Education: Minimum B.S. or B.A. degree or equivalent experience preferred.
• Experience: Minimum of seven years’ experience and proficiency in AP Style and familiarity with writing content for online platforms. Salary: $110K-$120K based upon experience and qualifications
