POSITION SUMMARY

The Project Cost Controller is an integral part of the LNG Project Team dedicated to supporting the successful execution of the LNG Services project portfolio. The Project Cost Controller provides cost oversight for the LNG Business, covering the field service project portfolio ranging from SE, engineering studies and field services (completed contract) projects to larger third party (percentage of completion) projects.The Project Cost Controller is actively engaged in helping to understand cost and revenue variances and trends across the project stack to help the LNG Project Team find ways to increase profitability and improve estimating/forecasting accuracy.

NATURE AND SCOPE

The LNG project portfolio includes a broad range of projects with varying scope and length of time to execute where schedule is not always in Air Products control, adding complexity to cost and revenue estimating, forecasting, and reporting. As such, this role requires collaboration across many departments to ensure alignment with monthly cost and revenue planning and reporting. Success in this role requires effective communication and organization skills to help drive alignment.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

Monthly assessment of Services Project Stack portfolio; forecasting projects with guidance from the Project Performance Lead and Manager of Proposals, forecast cost against budget and forecast/track cost and revenue against Op Plan; produce timely reports in line with the project reporting calendar, providing details on progress, actuals, forecast and explanation of variances.Help to improve work processes where possible to minimize manual data entry across the teams and help to ensure data accuracy; additional responsibilities may include project set up, cost forecast updates, and project closeout.
Providing support for the Proposal and Project Managers on global project execution strategies, including Intercompany Contracts, hedging processes and other unique situations to help ensure accurate cost estimates (budget), cost and revenue forecasting and reporting throughout the project execution phase; support project change management process throughout the life cycle of the projects.
Developing variance reports and areas of concern, detecting trends and providing advance notice of potential overruns against the current budget to help the Project Team develop recovery plans.
Monitoring of time charging activities across LNG, identifying and escalating inconsistencies and helping to ensure team members are charging the correct projects and timely for accurate profit recognition.
Submit expenditure authorization requests for study and service projects and change in the works for Equipment Agreement projects, working closely with Project and Proposal Managers and ensuring alignment with all Engineering Procedures and Work Instructions; additional responsibilities include project set up, cost forecast updates, and project closeout.
Review monthly financial reporting data provided by other AP Internal support functions to help ensure compliance with finance and accounting standards and guidelines and support successful project execution.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelors degree in engineering, accounting or financial field required.
Minimum of 8-10 years experience preferred, with proven understanding of a variety of project types, structures, and contract terms.
Experience with supporting global projects executed by multiple engineering offices and understanding of intercompany project ramifications.
Proven track record of delivering accurate reports and guidance to senior management.
Proficient with SAP and the Microsoft Suite of tools; ability and enthusiasm to learn new software and tools to support work process and improvement initiatives.
Additional qualifications for success in this role include:
Good working knowledge of accounting practices and terminology.
Meticulous attention to detail.
Experience and ability to work with diverse cultures associated with multi-region project execution and build strong working relationships.
