Enjoy great employment benefits and free training opportunities!Distinguishing Characteristics of the Class:A Public Works Warehouse Coordinator is responsible for coordinating activities concerning the operational aspects of DPW maintenance facility. Duties are performed under the general supervision of the Chief/Maintenance Division.About the Department: The Department of Public Works is a community partner in shaping a livable, green, and prospering City of Falls Church. We plan, build, operate, and maintain transportation systems and infrastructure that improve mobility and provide people and businesses with core public services.Illustrative Examples of Work:

  • Conducts daily inspections of contracted cleaning services;
  • Coordinates the buying of all supplies and equipment for the workers and the maintenance facility;
  • Coordinates, with the vendors, the repair of equipment and tools;
  • Takes corrective action on any performance failure by contractual services;
  • Plans and conducts in-house training programs to ensure the safety and proper use of equipment and hazardous materials;
  • Conducts and maintains OSHA inspections and related records;
  • Responsible for the maintenance and operation of the facility;
  • Conducts daily inspections of warehouse and grounds for safety and cleanliness;
  • Coordinates random and required drug testing activities, as mandated by State and Federal requirements;
  • Purchases supplies and equipment for maintenance facility;
  • Reviews, maintains, and prepares inventory reports;
  • Promotes on-the-job safety;
  • Coordinates and assigns personnel, vehicles, and equipment and supervises snow removal operations during a shift;
  • Performs related work as required.

Essential Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Thorough knowledge of the equipment, materials, supplies, and practices of custodial services;
  • Thorough knowledge of the hazards and precautionary methods necessary to custodial operations;
  • Good knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the work;
  • Ability to organize, plan, and coordinate activities, the use of materials, and personnel;
  • Ability to coordinate and assign personnel in the removal of snow;
  • Ability to instruct employees in building cleaning operations and safety practices;
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with contractor representatives, building occupants, and the public;
  • Ability to coordinate drug testing activities and maintain appropriate records;
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing;
  • Ability to maintain the necessary records related to OSHA inspection and records.

Minimum and Additional Requirements:Minimum:

  • High School Diploma or GED;
  • Considerable responsible building custodial or property management experience including some supervisory experience;
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

Preferred:

  • Commercial Drivers License (CDL)
  • Warehouse work experience
  • Receiving work experience.

Hours: This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. This is considered an essential position with varying shifts to include holidays, nights, weekends, and reporting during inclement weather.Salary or Salary & Benefits: $54,540 – $73,589, depending on qualifications.
