Description and FunctionsOpen Until FilledGENERAL DESCRIPTION:The Wyoming Department of Health (WDH) seeks a qualified individual to assume the Wyoming Life Resource Center (WLRC) Registered Behavioral Technician role. The WLRC facility provides intermediate and long-term care in Lander, Wyoming. It is licensed for 109 beds and caters to specific populations. The facility boasts a beautiful 90-acre campus with state-of-the-art care, education, and employment opportunities.Located in the foothills of the Wind River mountains, Lander is an outdoor lovers’ paradise! - Provide clinical and direct resident services related to resident behavior.
- Train, educate, and support Direct Support Professionals (DSPs), ensuring they are given appropriate behavioral information regarding residents and are aware of which interventions to use when necessary.
- In the event of a resident crisis, assist and support staff as appropriate, with emphasis on refocusing behavior, employing crisis tools, and debriefing.
- Upon recommendation from the supervising BCBA, follow applicable WLRC Business Office processes to request the purchase of necessary therapeutic equipment on behalf of residents with resident funds.
- Develop and maintain positive, supportive, and effective relationships with residents, staff, guardians, and other stakeholders.
- Observe and gather resident behavioral narrative notes, including but not limited to ABCs (antecedents, behaviors, consequences), and behavior timestamps to identify trends and post-plan modification.
- Enter narrative notes and other data into the WLRC electronic health record (EHR).
- Administer behavioral interventions upon modification of a behavior plan by supervising BCBA.
- Document that services were provided using WLRC electronic health records through narrative notes in the appropriate workflow.
- Serve on WLRC resident rights committees, including the Human Rights Committee, Behavior Program Review Committee, Behavior Medication Review Committee, the Institutional Review Board (IRB), and other committees as assigned, either as a standing member or as an alternate to the supervising BCBA. When an alternate to the supervising BCBA’s seat, attend meetings and summarize content for the BCBA. Make recommendations to committee members as applicable.
- Conduct shift scheduling discussions with the supervising BCBA to ensure appropriate coverage on campus.
- Develop recommendations for leadership approval regarding work schedules and allocating Direct Support Professionals and others serving in this position to different duties and/or shifts, depending on campus needs.
- Communicate with WLRC staff as necessary for shift scheduling. Shifts may require certain flexibility to ensure coverage as dictated by the supervisor.
- Responsible for continuous training regarding fundamentals of human behavior, measurement, assessment, skill acquisition, behavior reduction, and professionalism within healthcare settings.
- Perform other duties as assigned consistent with the position and in compliance with agency policies and procedures.
QualificationsKNOWLEDGE:
- Ability to create and maintain Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) account with BCBA supervisor linked.
- Ability to organize and follow a task through to completion with minimal administrative supervision.
- Knowledge of de-escalation techniques and management of aggressive behaviors.
- Ability to work directly with residents who display aggressive and challenging behaviors.
- Knowledge of mental illnesses and disabilities.
- knowledge or program adaptations.
- Knowledge of recreation and social programming.
- Knowledge of motivational techniques.
- Knowledge of training and assisting techniques.
- Knowledge of research techniques.
- Knowledge of intervention methods.
- Knowledge of ethics and how to maintain professional boundaries.
- Skills in using a computer and Microsoft Office applications.
- Knowledge of and ability to perform emergency procedures, such as BLS, First Aid, and PCM.
- Knowledge of state government processes, applicable statutes, rules, and regulations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Education:
High School DiplomaExperience:
0-2 years of progressive work experience (typically in Health Programs).Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Must be certified or eligible for certification as a Registered Behavior Technician in the State of Wyoming within six (6) months of hireNecessary Special RequirementsPHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Must be able to safely move (twisting, bending, kneeling, pushing, pulling), position and lift people with multiple and severe disabilities.
- Ability to monitor sounds, noises, location of residents, etc. to assure safety and assess imminent danger and emerging concerns.
- Ability to work alone and/or with multiple residents.
- Skills in crisis management and the ability to intervene in a resident behavioral crisis.
