Our desire is to see individuals reach their full potential, and create lasting change that will stand the test of time.JOB SUMMARYThe Peer Advocate/Community Educator reports to the Program Director and serves as a community educator and client advocate, providing information and peer support to clients in office outpatient settings and performs a wide range of tasks to assist clients in regaining control over their own lives and over their own recovery process.ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES * Planning educational programs and events.

  • Establishing new community initiatives and collaborative partners.
  • Undertaking outreach and engagement work to encourage more community mental health education and participation.
  • Facilitating community educational groups and community program presentations.
  • Identifying the training needs, of community partners, and affiliates.
  • Make written notes to document partner contacts with the program.
  • Assist with needs of program treatment staff and clients to provide quality services to clients of the program.
  • Remain in full compliance with regulatory and agency policies and procedures, including ensuring confidentiality of verbal and written consumer information.
  • Be present to meet and greet consumers upon arrival to the Program.
  • Provide client support in group setting.
  • Provide client support to understand and encourage adherence to program guidelines and procedures.
  • Answer the telephone and reception as needed.
  • Provide peer support, life/coping skills, and assistance to clients.
  • Perform some filing and other general office duties as needed.
  • Attend daily team check-in meetings, bi-weekly team meetings, and bi-weekly one-on-one meetings with the Program Director.
  • Will assist with the planning and organization of special socialization groups and events for clients.
  • Work with other team members to achieve client goals and objectives.
  • Communicate closely, in a systematic fashion, with agencies and significant others involved in the rehabilitation of clients.
  • Provide timely reports on any unusual occurrences that might impact the overall program operation or the health and safety of clients or employees.
  • Will think and act quickly and efficiently in emergencies.
  • Will drive on Agency business which includes the transportation of clients.
  • Physical presence at the worksite is required.

ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS * High school diploma or GED, with one (1) year experience in community mental health and education, preferred.

  • Current or former recipient of client services or a person with lived experience related to mental health preferred.
  • Ability to work independently, making decisions and using self-initiative to establish projects; and complete tasks.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in reading and writing.
  • Ability to establish trusting relationships with peers.
  • Work effectively and professionally with program partners and co-workers.
  • Communicate effectively in written and spoken English.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in written and spoken Spanish preferred.
  • Legibly, accurately and appropriately document communications, behaviors and routine facility events as they occur.
  • Ability to work independently and as a part of a team; strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
  • Basic computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint, Office 365, Teams, Zoom and other communication/meeting platforms.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and have access to a dependable means of transportation that is properly insured and operated in accordance with all laws. Agency insurer authorization is required.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and TB test.

  • Monolingual: Class 98 ($16.62 – $20.23/hour)
  • Bilingual: Class 103 ($16.80 – $21.26/hour)
