- Issue weather, water, and climate information, including accurate and timely warnings and forecasts, to the public and other customers served within the Weather Forecast Office (WFO) area of responsibility.
- Analyzes and evaluates local synoptic and mesoscale weather and hydrologic observations available from multiple observation sources at the WFO while on an operational shift.
- Ensure the basic operating characteristics of NWS electronic and computer systems used in data acquisition, communications, information processing, and dissemination activities, including control procedures associated with the WSR-88D system.
- Provide appropriate advice, trainings, guidance, explanations, weather briefings and answers to questions as requested by the public, the media, and other interested customers of weather, water, and climate products and services.

Applicants must possess one full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 in the Federal service. Specialized experience MUST include all of the following:
- Using weather radar systems for data acquisition, information processing, or dissemination activities;
- Analyzing and monitoring mesoscale weather and hydrologic observations;
- Assessing weather situations and associated meteorological and hydrologic data to provide information, warnings and forecasts to the public and customers; and,
- Assembling, monitoring, and maintaining weather instruments.
EducationThere is no Substitution of Education for this series and grade.Additional informationCTAP and ICTAP candidates will be eligible for selection priority if it is determined that they have exceeded the minimum qualifications for the position by attaining at least a rating of 85 out of 100.
