Job Description:OverviewCambridge Investment Research Inc., one of the nation’s top independent financial solutions firm, is looking for a person who has a passion about data to join the Technology Department for an IT Database Engineer.Job Summary: The IT Database Engineer plays a critical role in designing, maintaining, and optimizing database systems to meet performance, security, and high availability requirements. This role involves working closely with business stakeholders and developers to ensure infrastructure standards are upheld, performing operational DBA duties, and managing complex SQL environments. The IT Database Engineer is responsible for using SQL monitoring tools to identify and resolve performance issues, as well as leveraging technologies like PowerShell for reporting and monitoring. The position requires participation in a rotational on-call schedule to provide support for after-hours activities.
Essential Duties
- Develop and implement database design standards to ensure performance, security, and high availability.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders and development teams to align infrastructure with organizational needs.
- Manage SQL Server configuration, perform version upgrades, and ensure effective backup/recovery using tools such as Rubrik.
- Analyze performance issues in SQL-based applications using monitoring tools like SolarWinds.
- Utilize PowerShell to create reports supporting monitoring and performance tracking responsibilities.
- Participate in a rotational on-call schedule to provide support outside of standard business hours.
Education & ExperienceThe ideal candidate would possess an advanced level of experience, typically around 8 or more years, in relational database design; MS SQL Server administration; TSQL programming with complex stored procedures and triggers.
Preferred SkillsExperience desired in SharePoint, Replication, SSIS, SSRS, IIS, XML, SQL Server Performance Monitoring tools, OLAPCompensation: $95,000-$115,000. This range is a good faith estimate of the compensation to be offered for this position based on the ideal candidate’s qualifications, the Company’s operational needs, and other considerations permitted by law.
