  • Advises the program manager, unit commander, and higher headquarters on policy related to the initiation and execution of unusual, sensitive, and complex deception issues and associated problems impacting the unit’s operational mission. Assists in managing the overall intelligence management program and prepares deception plans for the unit. These deception plans include unit short- or long-term deception plans and integrating the unit deception plans with those of other services in developing joint operational deception plans. The incumbent assists in the development and implementation of unit policies, standards, procedures, and training for effecting management of all aspects of deception to ensure information and resources are properly protected.
  • Assists in managing the overall security management program as it relates to operational security. Develops and implements unit policies, standards, procedures, and training for effective management of all aspects of operational security to ensure information and resources are properly protected. Promulgates operational security plans and classification guides for the unit. Makes detailed interpretations of such guidance in key areas; in some cases, without precedent where incorrect or incomplete decisions could compromise sensitive operations and cause grave damage to national interests as well as jeopardize valuable and material resources.
  • Conducts extensive research from non-governmental/military resources in the development and implementation of organizational deception plans. Incumbent must prepare lesson plans, create training slides, conduct classroom training and conducts field exercises in support of deception training. Incumbent assists in training 40 personnel per month. Provides tailored operational and technically oriented intelligence, OPSEC and deception briefings to higher headquarters, unit commander, joint operational teams and combat aircrews in preparation for tactical training and contingency operations.

  • Incumbent must be prepared to travel on short notice TDY’s both to CONUS and OCONUS locations.
  • Incumbent is subject to after duty hours recall based on the operations situation. Incumbent required to be on pager 100% of time.
  • Requires incumbent to possess and maintain a valid State Driver’s License to enable operation of government, privately owned and rental motor vehicles.

QualificationsThis is a GG-12 position in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). The GG-12 duties for the “Professional” work category are at the “Full Performance” work level and are equivalent to those at the GS-12 level. The selectee’s salary will be set within the grade equivalent to a GS/GG grade based on the selectee’s qualifications in relation to the job.In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements describes in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions.EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Your resume must reflect the quality level of experience which demonstrates the possession of the knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for successful job performance required for this position. Examples of creditable experience include: knowledge of all aspects of operational security for worldwide sensitive air support and employment mission requirements, including fixed wing, ground refueling, air refueling, navigation and offensive/defensive employment operations for air assets; knowledge of developing, implementing, and employing Air Force deception plans while conducting training and real world missions; knowledge of joint special operations doctrine to include domestic and overseas command relationships; knowledge of DoD and USAF policies on special access programs controls and procedures, document control and accountability.
